Tony Britton is a recurring character in the Freeform series, Good Trouble. He is portrayed by Jayson Blair.

Tony is a devoted and charismatic lawyer who works for Kathleen Gale, alongside Rowan and Callie Adams Foster.[1]

Biography[]

Personality[]

Tony is equally charismatic as he is condescending. He believes that if he flaunts his law degree or learns from the best that he will then become the best, holding those above him in high prestige without much regard for their pasts, while looking down on those below him. He is eager to pass off cases he views as duds or that might guarantee a loss, as he cares more for racking up wins then actually helping a less-fortunate client.

Physical Appearance[]

Tony is a young lawyer in his late twenties or early thirties. He has black hair that he styles away from his face, dark brown eyes, and a tall build. He dresses in upper-class clothing such as professional suits, dress-shirts, and pants. He can usually be seen either carrying his briefcase or near one. Tony also wears a black watch.

Throughout Series[]

In Capoeira, Tony helps Kathleen Gale become situated at their new office, which is the former Legal Aid building. He is an associate with Kathleen who is one of the few she has selected to work for her in the non-profit she is opening.

In Arraignment Day, Callie returns to her new clinic where she is nicknamed an impulse buy. Tony and another paralegal judge Kathleen for her impulsive choice to open the clinic, but Callie reminds them that they did the same thing by joining her. Tony realizes this is correct just Kathleen enters and announces they are all picking up cases at the arraignment court from PD overflow. Tony is surprised but goes along with her.

He is assigned a case that he dons a "loser" as the woman involved has multiple parking tickets and has missed court before. He crosses paths with Callie in the stairwell and she learns that he has Yvonne Buyers' case, a woman that Malika pointed out to her earlier. She offers to take the case from Tony and he doesn't give it a second thought, handing it off to her.

Tony appears in court in front of Judge Patton where he petitions for OR, though Patton isn’t impressed by Tony’s confidence or attitude. He tells Tony to act as though this is his first time in court, since it is, as he doesn't appreciate Tony being overly comfortable in his courtroom. Callie pulls inspiration from this and allows herself to appear shaky in front of Judge Patton, her humility earning her points from Patton and helping her case. Tony is genuinely impressed by Callie.

In Because, Men, Tony compliments Callie on going to trial with the possibility of a settlement, so she asks Tony why Kathleen left the firm she built. The other attorney, Rowan, thinks Kathleen got tired of representing rich clients. Callie wonders why they followed blindly so Rowan admits that a friend of his was fired from his job after he transitioned and no one at the firm would take his case, but Kathleen did pro-bono and won. Callie notes that he owes Kathleen but he corrects that he‘s here because he wants to be like her. Tony is here merely to be taught by the best.
