Sherri Michelle Saum (born October 1, 1974 in Dayton, Ohio) is an American actress.

She portrays Lena Adams Foster on the Freeform series, The Fosters

Life and Career

Saum was born to a German mother and an African-American father. On May 19, 2007, she married longtime boyfriend and former One Life to Live castmate Kamar de los Reyes in New York City. She has an older stepson.

Saum got her start at a Model Search America convention near her home in Kettering, Ohio. She was discovered during high school, modeling mostly during summer breaks until she decided to move to New York and work full time with the New York modeling agency Images Management.

Her first major role was in the NBC soap opera Sunset Beach as Vanessa Hart during the entire run of the series (1997–1999). She appeared in a variety of shows including Showtime's Beggars and Choosers (1999–2000), Girlfriends for an episode in (2000), Charmed in (2001). Saum plays the role of Natalie on the FX series Rescue Me.

Saum appeared in the Hallmark Television film Relative Stranger with Cicely Tyson and Eriq La Salle. She also appears in the independent film Ten Stories Tall with Ally Sheedy and Josh Hamilton. In 2009, she played Bess in Season 2 of the HBO drama series In Treatment. The next few years would see HET in roles in CW's Gossip Girl, CBS's Unforgettable, ABC's Body of Proof and Revenge.

In 2013, she plays the lead role in Jennifer Lopez produced drama series The Fosters for ABC Family.

• Saum currently splits her time between New York City and Los Angeles with her husband and enjoys traveling and volunteering with Kusewera, an organization that teaches children in Malawi through active and creative play. 
• Studied Spanish in Madrid, Spain for 6 months.
• Has a restored 1972 Dodge Charger in her car collection.
• Her father is African American and her mother Lois is Caucasian (German).
• Met her ex-boyfriend, Timothy Adams, when they both worked on the same TV show, Sunset Beach (1997).

• She loves New York and divides/divided her time between there and Los Angeles.
• When she and her Sunset Beach (1997) co-star Timothy Adams were sitting together in Aaron Spelling's office, she found out that she and Tim only lived ten blocks apart in New York, they had the same friends and had worked as models for the same clients but, oddly enough, had never bumped into each other.
• She was involved in a drama club and was also a cheerleader whilst attending high school.
• She wrote a song for the Charmed (1998) episode in which she appeared ("Prewitched"). As a result, she is now a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers). The song was entitled "Charmed Chant".
• Other family members: brother Michael,(he works for the city of Dayton Ohio) Ohio), sister Dr. Lisa Saum, who is a political scientist.
• She transferred from Ohio State University after one semester, to New York University where she got a major in psychology. While she studied in New York she did modeling work and worked as a waitress. She was later going to to attend John Jay College to pursue a degree in criminal justice but she quit school because she got a job offer that brought her over to the west coast.
• Sherri's brother-in-law, Daniel de los Reyes, is a member of Zac Brown Band.
• Appeared in an infomercial, hosted by Victoria Principal and Catherine Crier, for the "Principal Secret Reclaim" skin care system.
• (December 3, 2013) Expecting twins with her husband Kamar de los Reyes.
