Drew Turner is a recurring character on the Freeform series, The Fosters. He makes his first appearance in Sex Ed.
Drew is portrayed by Jared Ward.
Biography[]
Drew is first introduced as the temporary vice principal of Anchor Beach Community Charter School for Lena, as she had to take some time off to focus on Jesus and help with the family. After an off campus LBGTQ sex Ed class is held with the help from Lena, Monte allows this but tells Lena students need sign a waiver. This quickly bites Monte after the school board finds out about the off campus class and that Monte had students sign a waiver making the class ABCC’s responsibility. Turner becomes the new interim to replace Monte Porter after the board requests that she resign.
Drew gets in contact with Craig Stratos, who proposes a plan to turn Anchor Beach into a private school. Drew is very interested in this concept because he believes it will strongly benefit the faculty and students. When the board votes on this decision, Drew takes the principal's vote, in favor of going private. However, the decision is repealed after it is revealed that Monte had not yet resigned and therefore, was still the acting principal. This meant that Drew's vote was invalid and a new vote had to take place.
Before a new vote can take place, Monty decides to transfer, and Drew becomes the official principal. He initially plans to vote in favor again, alongside the head of the school board, Lauren. However, Drew changes his mind once he learns from Lena Adams Foster that Craig plans to turn Anchor Beach into a luxury housing development.
After the board decides not to go private, Drew apologizes to Lena for being unable to see the truth. However, he also attempts to "put her in her place" and introduces merit-based bonuses. This angers the faculty of Anchor Beach and they all signed a petition threatening to unless Drew is fired and Laurel resigns. Drew is fired and leaves Anchor Beach, making Lena the principal.
