Dana Adams is a recurring character on The Fosters. She is the mother of Lena Adams, the mother-in-law of Stef Foster, and the grandmother of Brandon, Jesus, Mariana, Callie and Jude. She makes her first appearance in Quinceañera, in order to celebrate Jesus and Mariana's fifteenth birthday.
She is portrayed by Lorraine Toussaint.
Biography[]
Dana is Lena's mother. She married a white man and had Lena, a biracial woman. She has a strained relationship with her daughter, believing that Lena doesn't know what it's like to be a "real" black woman due to her only being half black. However, when needed most, she is there for her and gives motherly love to her.
Physical Appearance[]
Dana is a black woman who is about 5'9 in height. She has brown eyes and her black hair is about shoulder length and is usually worn straight.

In this episode, Dana is introduced as Lena's mother. She makes her entrance into the Fosters' home in order to celebrate Jesus and Mariana's birthday. Meanwhile, she meets Callie and Jude and politely greets them and she mentions that she has presents. Later on, Dana is seen with her dress as they prepare for the quinceanera and she is seen trying to fix Lena's hair. Later on, Lena and Dana get into a disagreement about the color of their skin, when Dana makes a rude remark that Lena will never know what it's like to be a black woman. Lena gets offended and Dana feels bad. In the end, she can be seen complimenting Lena on the party and taking pictures and enjoying the rest of the night with the family.
Dana comes back for the wedding. She and Sharon don't get along when they disagree on the flowers for the wedding.

Dana comes to visit Lena at the hospital after Lena loses the baby.
Lena calls Dana and asks to speak with Nate.
Dana, Stewart, Nate, and Faith come over to the Fosters' house to have a dinner with them. Lena insists that Dana doesn't apologize to Nate after he calls her a hateful word. Afterwards, they confront Nate, forcing him and his girlfriend to leave the house.
